10. Deodorize with charcoal.

If you spend a lot of time in your car, chances are you’ve had quite a few meals in there, too. Popping an air freshener on the rearview mirror just makes it smell like fresh pine…with a note of late night burritos. Skip artificial, cloying fragrances and use charcoal instead. It neutralizes odors by absorbing them, as opposed to just covering them up. You can find a charcoal air freshener that clips to your vent, place some charcoal sachets in the glove box, or just leave an open bag of the black stuff on your floor boards for a while.
