10 Symptoms & Signs of Bronchitis

3. Swollen Lymph Nodes

Anytime your body is fighting an infection; it is a pretty safe bet that your lymph nodes will be impacted. Lymph nodes are small structures found throughout your body that act as filters for harmful substances. Inside, they contain immune cells which fight against infection by attacking the germs that pass through this fluid. As a result of this battling with infection, the lymph nodes themselves can become swollen and irritated.

A person suffering from bronchitis is no exception to this rule. In fact, many doctors and layman alike use the feeling of the glands in their neck to give a better indication of an infection. After an infection has passed, these lymph nodes will usually return back to regular size, but if the swelling persists, it is certainly time to go visit a health-care professional.
