As lead singer of the punk rock band Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong came out in 1995 before his music was catapulted into the late 90’s spotlight. During a period when coming out was even more challenging than today, Armstrong found those who resisted his honesty and lack of apologies for being true to himself. He is outspoken about the rights of those in the LGTBQ community. In 2016, Green Day released their latest album, Revolution Radio.
