This symptom is connected and indirectly caused by other symptoms of Alzheimer’s. People with Alzheimer’s tend to isolate and withdraw from their family, friends and social life in general. The difficult communication and mood swings just complement the feeling of shame and embarrassment, and forces them to avoid social events altogether. These people eliminate themselves from every activity or hobby they cherished all of their lifetimes. Also, they may seem emotionally inaccessible with a lack of interest in their surroundings. With the right therapy and help from the family the patient will get better, but as the illness progresses this symptom will slowly appear again.
