As dementia progresses over the years and reaches a more advanced stage, the symptoms become more obvious than before. A person’s communication skills and command of language become very poor and he struggles to finish his thoughts and sentences. He can’t find the correct words to express himself, so he substitutes them with incorrect, but familiar words, or makes up new words. The communication becomes difficult for the affected person, as for the family. This a plus reason for the person to close themselves off and talk less. That leads to lonesomeness and apathy and can worsen the patient condition significantly.
